Weekly Round-Up with Shifnal and Albrighton Safer Neighbourhood Team This week, our team has been out and about supporting the Safer Outside School initiative, attending schools across the Shifnal and Albrighton parishes during busy drop-off and pick-up times. Our goal is simple: to be visible, engage with parents and teachers, and prevent dangerous parking—especially on zig-zag lines, which pose serious risks to children and cause unnecessary obstructions. Your cooperation helps keep our school zones safe.
Operation Spotlight – Road Safety Across Shropshire We’ve also been shining a light on the Fatal Four driving offences—speeding, mobile phone use, not wearing seatbelts, and drink/drug driving—through Op Spotlight, supported by our targeted operations Aurora and Ankara. Speed surveys have been conducted in key concern areas, and we’ll be sharing results for specific streets soon. These efforts are driven by your feedback and our commitment to safer roads.
Community Speed Watch – Volunteers Making a Difference We recently held a Community Speed Watch meeting to welcome some fantastic volunteers who are generously giving their time to help monitor vehicle speeds around Shifnal. Their dedication plays a vital role in making our streets safer and raising awareness about responsible driving. Thank you to everyone who’s stepped forward to support this initiative! If you would be interested in helping, drop us a comment or contact us at sa.snt@westmercia.police.uk.
Where to Find Us Next We’ll be attending the Battle of Britain event at RAF Cosford on Saturday 20th September, providing a policing presence and engaging with the public on community safety and road awareness. And don’t miss us at the Shifnal Harvest Festival in St Andrews Churchyard on Saturday 27th September, between 11am and 1pm. We’ll be there to talk about local policing priorities—and yes, we’ve joined in the fun with our very own scarecrow: Sheriff Bales is on duty! Safer Neighbourhood Session – Albrighton Library We’ll also be at Albrighton Library on Monday 29th September between 11am and 12pm for a Safer Neighbourhood Session. This is a great opportunity for residents to speak directly with the team about any local concerns, ask questions, and learn more about how we’re working to keep the community safe. Whether it’s anti-social behaviour, traffic issues, or general safety, we’re here to listen and help.
Whether it’s school safety, road awareness, or community engagement, we’re here to serve and support. Thank you for helping us make Shropshire safer.
